Software Engineer · 2025 – 2026

A real estate startup building the web platform where people find, list, and pay for property. I worked here as a software engineer across the whole stack.

The Problem

Renting or buying property in this market runs on scattered listings, informal agents, and cash deals with no paper trail. Buyers can't trust what they see. Sellers can't reach people beyond word of mouth. Payments happen offline, which means no record and plenty of room for things to go wrong. Citu set out to put listings, discovery, and money in one place people could trust.

What I Built

I worked across the product, from the pages users saw to the services behind them.

On the frontend, I built the property listings and search: browsing, filtering, and the detail pages people used to evaluate a place before committing. React and Next.js on TypeScript.

On the backend, I built and maintained the APIs and data models that fed those pages, running on Node.js with Postgres. This covered how listings were stored, queried, and kept in sync with what users saw.

I also worked on the payment flows, moving transactions that used to happen in cash into the platform so there was a record on both sides of a deal.

Infrastructure

The services ran in Docker on cloud infrastructure. I worked on the deployment and data layer that kept the app running and the listings fresh.
